Before First Use & Care

Before first use

  • Rinse the teapot several times with boiling water, then pour the water away.

Cleaning

  • Rinse with warm water only, without soap or detergent.
  • A light tea residue may build up inside over time: this is normal.
  • Not dishwasher safe.

Everyday care

  • After each use, empty the pot, take off the lid and let it dry completely.
  • Keep it away from oil and salt, and from sharp or hard objects that could mark it.

Precautions

  • On a gas or electric hob, use a gentle heat, always with water inside and the infuser removed. Never heat the pot empty.
  • Never cool a hot pot quickly with cold water: sudden changes can crack cast iron.
  • The body, lid and handle get hot: use a cloth to lift the pot and the lid.

If rust appears

Cast iron can show a little rust if water is left in it. It’s normal and simple to treat: boil fresh water in the pot two or three times, then dry it well.

Why a golden tree?

The motif

Why a golden tree?

A tree is the quietest sign of time passing: rooted, patient, a little fuller every year. Here it spreads across dark iron in fine gold-coloured lines.

A reminder, each time you pour, that good things take their time.

Worried about rust?

Easy care

Worried about rust?

Iron simply asks not to be left wet. Empty it after each pot, lift the lid and let the warmth dry it. That’s all.

If a spot ever appears, boiling fresh water in it a few times takes care of it. And if anything isn’t right when it arrives, we’ll put it right.

  • Keeps tea warm

Cast iron holds its heat, so the second cup pours almost as warm as the first.

  • Infuser included

Lift the leaves out when the tea is ready, so it never turns bitter.

  • Gas and electric hobs

Heat your water in it, with the infuser taken out.

Before you buy

Good questions.

Anything else? Write to us, we’re happy to help.

Can it go on the hob?

Yes, on gas and electric hobs, to heat water over a gentle heat. Take the infuser out first, fill it to about 70% so it doesn’t bubble over, and never heat it empty. On gas, keep the flame under the base.

How much does it hold?

900 ml, about 4–5 cups: a pot to share. The full measurements are under Details & Specifications above.

Does the handle get hot?

The cord wrap makes it more comfortable to hold, but cast iron warms up once the pot is full, and even more after it has been on the hob. Keep a cloth or tea towel to hand to lift the pot and the lid.

Will my teapot look exactly like the photos?

Very close. Cast iron is poured into a mould, so small differences in texture, finish and in the gold-coloured tree from one pot to the next are normal, and aren’t a defect. Colours can also look slightly different from one screen to another.

Is it a good gift?

A lovely one for anyone who takes their time over tea. Delivery takes 7–14 days in total, Monday to Friday (2–4 days processing, then 5–10 days shipping, both Monday to Friday), so order a little ahead for a birthday.

What if it arrives damaged, or I change my mind?

If anything arrives damaged, send us a photo and we’ll send a replacement or refund you in full. You can also return it within 30 days of delivery: see our returns and refunds policy.
