Glass teapots with infuser to watch your tea brew

There is something quietly satisfying about watching tea brew. In a glass teapot you see the leaves unfurl, the colour deepens from pale to amber, and you decide for yourself when the cup is ready. Every pot in this collection comes with a removable infuser, so you can lift the leaves out the moment the tea tastes right instead of letting it turn bitter. Sizes start at 350 ml, enough for one or two cups, and go up to 1.3 L, about six cups. Pour in hot water from the kettle, put the lid on and wait a few minutes.

Round, tapered, square or ribbed: choosing the shape of your glass teapot

Glass teapots come in more shapes than you might expect. You will find a low, round belly that gives flowering teas room to open, a tapered body, a square base with clean lines, a ribbed finish and a wide pot with a long curved spout. One pot pairs clear or smoke grey glass with a wooden handle and lid. Most infusers are fine-mesh steel; the glass ones have fine slits and suit whole leaves, flowers and herbal blends best. If you would rather have a heavier pot that holds its warmth, take a look at our cast iron teapots.

How to look after a glass teapot

A little care goes a long way with glass. Heat your water in a kettle and pour it in, and avoid sudden changes of temperature, such as rinsing a hot pot under cold water. Wash by hand in warm, soapy water with a soft sponge, and rinse the infuser straight after use. To lift tea stains, leave a little bicarbonate of soda and warm water in the pot for a few minutes, then rinse. Wipe wooden parts dry and never soak them. Never use a pot with chipped or cracked glass. Hob rules differ from one pot to the next, so check each page.

Which glass teapot suits your table?

Think about who you are brewing for. A 350 ml pot is plenty for one or two cups, a 600 ml pot gives two to three, and the larger sizes serve a table of friends. Clear glass also looks good beside our glass cups and mugs, and makes a thoughtful gift for someone who loves loose leaf tea. Each product page lists exact sizes, so you can compare before you choose. Whichever you choose, the brew stays in plain sight from the first minute to the last. Questions before you order?
