How to Use & Care

Before first use

  • Soak the bamboo whisk in warm water for a few minutes, so the tines soften.
  • Wash the bowl and whisk holder in warm, soapy water, then rinse well.

Making matcha

  1. Warm the bowl with a little hot water, then pour it away and dry it.
  2. Add one or two scoops of matcha.
  3. Pour in a little water at around 80°C.
  4. Whisk briskly in a zigzag, from the wrist, until a soft foam forms. Drink straight from the bowl.

Cleaning

  • Rinse the whisk in warm water straight after use, without soap.
  • Let it dry upright on its holder, away from direct heat.
  • Wash the bowl and holder by hand. Wipe the scoop with a dry cloth.

  • Not suitable for the dishwasher or the microwave.
  • Don’t leave the bamboo whisk or scoop to soak for long.

Never made matcha before?

The ritual

Never made matcha before?

It takes a few minutes. Warm the bowl, add a scoop of matcha, pour a little hot water and whisk in a quick zigzag until a soft green foam rises.

No machine, no rush: just the sound of the whisk and a bowl held in both hands.

Why a whisk holder?

Look after it

Why a whisk holder?

A bamboo whisk is made of fine tines that need to dry in the right shape. Resting it upright on its ceramic holder after each use helps it keep its form.

Rinse it in warm water, set it on the holder, and it’s ready for the next bowl.

  • Everything you need

A bowl, a bamboo whisk, a scoop and a whisk holder.

  • Bamboo tools

A whisk and a scoop in natural bamboo.

  • Three glazes

    Blue, green or purple.

Before you buy

Good questions.

Anything else? Write to us, we’re happy to help.

What’s in the set?

Four pieces: a ceramic matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk, a bamboo scoop and a ceramic whisk holder.

Is matcha included?

No, the set comes without tea, so you can choose the matcha you like.

How do I make matcha?

Warm the bowl and dry it. Add one or two scoops of matcha, pour in a little water at around 80°C, then whisk briskly in a zigzag until a soft foam forms. The full steps are under How to Use & Care above.

How do I look after the whisk?

Before first use, soak it in warm water for a few minutes. After each use, rinse it in warm water without soap and let it dry upright on its holder, away from direct heat. Don’t leave it to soak for long.

Will it look exactly like the photos?

Very close. Each glaze can vary slightly from one set to the next, and screens also show colours differently.

Is it a good gift?

A lovely one for a matcha lover, or for someone who’s always wanted to try. Delivery takes 7–14 days in total, Monday to Friday (2–4 days processing, then 5–10 days shipping, both Monday to Friday), so order a little ahead for a birthday.

What if it arrives broken, or I change my mind?

If anything arrives damaged, send us a photo and we’ll send a replacement or refund you in full. You can also return it within 30 days of delivery: see our returns and refunds policy.
