Before First Use & Care

Before first use

  • Wash the cup in warm water before its first use.

Cleaning

  • Dishwasher safe. A gentle hand wash with a soft cloth and mild washing-up liquid keeps the glaze at its best.
  • Don’t use scourers or steel wool, which can scratch the glaze.

Everyday care

  • Avoid knocks against hard metal objects, which can mark the glaze.
  • If you stack your cups, place a soft cloth between them.

Precautions

  • Never rinse a hot cup under cold water: sudden changes of temperature can crack ceramic.
  • The cup warms up with hot tea: let it cool for a moment before holding it in your hands.
  • Don’t use a chipped or cracked cup.
  • Children should use it under adult supervision.

A cup without a handle?

The ritual

A cup without a handle?

That’s the point. It’s shaped to be held in both hands, the way tea is often drunk in East Asia, so you feel its warmth as you sip.

Let freshly poured tea settle for a moment, then cup it in your palms and take your time.

Not sure which colour?

Eight glazes

Not sure which colour?

Choose one that feels like yours, or mix a few: each glaze has its own character, and together they make a table that looks collected rather than matched.

If the colour isn’t right when it arrives, you have 30 days to return it.

  • Warm in the hand

A rounded 175 ml cup, made to be held in both hands.

  • Eight glazes

From deep midnight blue to soft celadon, each with its own flowing pattern.

  • Carefully packed

Every cup travels wrapped in protective packaging.

Before you buy

Good questions.

Anything else? Write to us, we’re happy to help.

Can it go in the dishwasher or microwave?

Yes, it’s dishwasher and microwave safe. A gentle hand wash with a soft cloth keeps the glaze looking its best, and it’s best to avoid sudden changes of temperature.

Does it get hot to hold?

Ceramic warms up with hot tea. Let freshly poured tea settle for a moment before cupping it in your hands.

How big is it?

About 175 ml, 8 cm high and 6.7 cm across: a generous cup of tea, or a small coffee.

Will my cup look exactly like the photo?

Very close, but never identical. The glaze flows as the cup is fired, so the drips, speckles and the line where the colours meet fall a little differently on every cup. That’s part of their charm, not a defect.

Colours can also look slightly different from one screen to another.

Is it sold on its own?

Yes, each cup is sold individually, so you can choose one colour or build a mixed set.

Is it a good gift?

A lovely one. Choose the glaze that suits them, or two different colours for a pair to share. Delivery takes 7–14 days in total, Monday to Friday (2–4 days processing, then 5–10 days shipping, both Monday to Friday), so order a little ahead for a birthday.

What if it arrives broken, or I change my mind?

If anything arrives damaged, send us a photo and we’ll send a replacement or refund you in full. You can also return it within 30 days of delivery: see our returns and refunds policy.
